Sister's

I had the pleasure and honor of meeting Stephanie and Pablo Vanzi of Alabastri Vanzi, proprietors of the alabaster quarried near their home in the beautiful Tuscan town of Volterra, Italy. While walking through their yard, I came across a particular piece of alabaster that seemed to call out to me, as if whispering, “Take me home.” The Vanzis are deeply connected to their region and are passionate about preserving the age-old tradition of working with alabaster, the quintessential decorative stone of the area.
Its heart-shaped form inspired me to create my latest sculptural piece, titled “Sister’s.” I wanted to craft something as timeless as the stone itself—an expression of the love and history embedded in both the land and its people.
“Sister’s” took shape through this inspiration and my own deep affection for the medium and my craft. This work is dedicated to my beloved sister, Penelope, and embodies the energetic bond we share. Like the alabaster—eternal and strong—so too is our connection.
